Large and small animals

The Royal National City Park has a rich plant and animal life. There are few places in Sweden of similar size with so many known species – over 1000 species of butterflies and well over 1,200 species of beetles. Most of the insects are associated with the old oaks.

Many of the animal species are relatively rare and threatened from a national point of view. However, there are also more familiar animals such as roe deer, fox, hare and toad.
